Amazon today unveiled the latest generation of its Kindle Fire tablets, the Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX tablets powered by Amazon’s new Fire OS 3.0 Mojito, a modified version of Google Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Kindle Fire HDX will come in 8.9-inch and 7-inch HD display configurations while the the Kindle Fire HD will come in a 7-inch configuration.

The Kindle Fire HD will sell US$139 with 8GB. It will begin shipping October 2. It will be followed by the 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX which will start shipping on October 18 with a price starting at US$229. The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX will ship starting on November 7 with pricing start at US$379. Pre-orders for all three tablets start today.
