If you live outside of the U.S. and were planning to buy a Chromecast through Amazon.com, you hopefully jumped on the opportunity to place your order a couple of days ago. It turns out that Amazon should never have shipped the dongle outside the U.S. and new orders are now triggering an error message that “Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player cannot be shipped to the selected address.”
Amazon has confirmed that an error allowed the international shipments. It warns that “all functionality of the item might not be available” outside of the U.S. and that the manufacturer’s warranty will be void. It will honour the orders it received and will issue a full refund if you decide to return it.
Those who did not place their order while they could will now need to wait until Google opens up availability of Chromecast to other countries. At this point, there is no information as to when they plan to do so.
