6-inch HTC One Max to take on Samsung Galaxy Note III?

HTCRumours continue to grow that HTC will launch its first phablet later this year. Samsung proved that there was a market for larger-screened smartphones with the original Galaxy Note and its successor, the Galaxy Note II. An unnamed source told German-language Mobile Geeks that HTC will launch the HTC One Max in September to take on Samsung’s next Galaxy Note as well as other phablets.

The HTC One Max is likely none other than the HTC T6 which has surfaced in a number of leaks and rumours in the past weeks.

The report adds that the HTC One Max will have the following specifications:

  • Processor: 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
  • Display: 6-inch FHD (1080×1920)
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Internal storage: 32/64GB
  • Battery: 3,200mAh

The report does not provide any details on whether the HTC One Max will come with some kind of stylus support like the Samsung Note family and Sony Xperia Z Ultra. HTC could well resurrect and update its HTC Scribe technology first seen on the HTC Flyer tablet back in 2011.

Before the launch of the HTC One Max, HTC is also expected to launch the HTC One mini sometime this month. Supporting earlier rumours, the report indicates that it will come with a 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, a 4.3-inch HD (720×1280) display, 16GB of internal memory. It will also come with 1GB of RAM whereas some earlier reports suggested 2GB. HTC may have reduced the RAM to reduce the price of the device.

Like the HTC One Max, the Samsung Galaxy Note III is expected to be announced in September, likely at IFA 2013 in Berlin.
