Google’s two operating systems, Android and Chrome OS, have had very different fortunes. One now dominates the smartphone world while the other continues to struggle to establish itself as a cloud-centric operating system powering a few Chromebooks and Chromeboxes. But what would happen if Chrome OS began to power mobile phones as well? That’s the question that apparently kept Google employee Zach Alcorn up a few nights ago, culminating in a concept image of a Chrome phone.
This still needs some work, but I liked the direction it was going and decided to share it with you all 🙂 What do you think? I’d love to see an Android skin that emulates this look.
Google has already indicated that its long term plan is to merge the two operating systems into one. So it is unlikely that the Chrome phone will move beyond the concept stage as more than an Android skin.
Would you be interested in a Chrome OS phone?
