Was it too good to be true? News broke yesterday that Vodafone Australia had approved the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Google Nexus S and that updates would start today. With only hours to go, Vodafone has now postponed the update.
A blog post explains that the delay is due to “a software issue.” As a result, the update “does not meet all the Australian regulatory requirements related to emergency calls.”
Vodafone does not have a new release date yet.
Given that the issue is specific to Australia, it should not affect unlocked devices or devices in other regions. But given that Google itself (or any other carrier for that matter) has yet to say much on the matter, it appears unlikely that the update will move forward today at all (but I’ll gladly be wrong on this one).
