Last but not least on the list of devices Gadgetorama was able to get a first hand look at yesterday is the upcoming Motorola DEFY PRO. It boasts a QWERTY-keyboard on a device that can survive in three feet of water for up to 30 minutes or being buried in sand (or both for that matter).
Along with the Motorola ATRIX HD LTE and Motorola RAZR V, I shot a video preview of Motorola DEFY PRO but did not realize that it came out fairly blurry (what great focus on the sand in the background though). I almost did not post the video but, in the end, decided to do so anyways. How often do you see a phone get buried in sand and drenched in water and still work? If nothing else, it is a good look at what the IP67 certification means.
The Motorola DEFY PRO targets a specific type of user. It is aimed at those with an active lifestyle and who still prefer a physical keyboard over a software one. Beyond its IP67 certification, it sports apps geared to such a lifestyle, including a pedometer, a calorie counter and a digital compass, and a 1,700mAh battery that can offer up to 12 hours of talk time or an impressive 13 days of standby. Its rugged construction also promises to protect it from life’s many bumps.
The Motorola DEFY PRO will be available exclusively to Rogers later this summer. Pricing was not announced but is described as being “entry-level.”
