Sony unveiled its first Android tablets last August, including the Sony Tablet S . Like other Android tablets, it has not met with the same level of success as Apple has had with its iPad. Despite that, Sony Electronics president Phil Molyneux said in an interview with PCMag that sales of the Tablet S “met our expectations, not exceeded [them].” He did not provide any sales numbers to provide context around the company’s goals though.
Molyneux described the Android tablet market as “still expanding” and promised a new generation of Sony tablets. “First generation, of course, means that there will be a second generation, and many more to come, so I think we’re on a relly [sic] great direction with consumer really at the center of our thinking,” Unfortunately there were no details on what this second generation of tablets will look like or when it would be released.
The Sony Tablet P, unveiled at the same time as the Tablet S, just went on sale at AT&T this week.
