Sony today announced its latest smartphone, the Xperia sola (formerly known as the Xperia MT27i “Pepper”). With it, Sony is introducing its floating touch technology, which allows you to interact with the phone without actually touching the screen.
The capacitive touch screen in Xperia sola enables the device to register your finger up to 20mm above the screen, opening up for completely new ways of interaction. This feature is built-in web browser of Xperia sola, to use it you can simply move your finger over browser links to highlight them. For the link you want, touch it to open. There are also live wallpapers that reacts with floating touch input, to give Xperia sola an almost magic feeling.
