Samsung unveiled its current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III, back in May. Unfortunately, its reign at the top may not even last a year according to The Korea Times. It reports that Samsung will announce a successor as early as next February at the next Mobile World Congress event. According to one unnamed source, “Samsung wants to keep its one-year product schedule and the Galaxy S4 will be the first to match that strategy.”
Details about the Samsung Galaxy S IV are slim but here is what is proposed so far:
- LTE connectivity
- Quad-core Exynos or Qualcomm processor depending on country
- Google Android
- 5-inch OLED display (slightly larger than the S III’s 4.8-inch one)
- Use of flexible display is still undecided
- Will retain the “popular rectangular shape with rounded corner concept”
The report also notes that the smartphone would then launch globally in March. Samsung is also engaged in discussions with major U.S. carriers to offer specific versions for at least some of them.
