While debate rages on about whether Microsoft will offer Windows Phone 8 updates for current devices, a smaller update could soon be heading to those devices. Spanish website Mi Movil Windows reports that Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh, better known as Tango, will begin to be pushed out in early June.
Citing unnamed sources, the report adds that the update is already in the hands of carriers and undergoing the usual testing.
The Tango update launch had originally been planned for April but Microsoft pushed it out to June to give partners more testing time and to perform the updates more or less at the same time. Keep in mind that carriers can also opt to skip upgrades so some may not see this one. This should be less of an issue than usual as Tango is not a major update and is mostly focused on features for lower-end hardware. It also includes a number of MMS features, including support for video and multiple images and a new voice notes feature allowing you to record one minute audio snippets.
