Microsoft has already confirmed that Windows Phone 7.5 devices will not be upgraded to Windows Phone 8. Instead, they will receive an update that will deliver some but not all of the features of the next major version of its operating system. Microsoft has yet to announce a full list of Windows Phone 8 features but a leaked Nokia document obtained by French site Smartphone France provides us with a first look at what features will not make it down to Windows Phone 7.8. The document is more comprehensive than what previous rumours revealed.
A number of features will be excluded due to hardware limitations. For example, multi-core processor, WXGA/720p display, and NFC support will not be offered. Other features that will not make will be OTA updates and true multitasking.
On a more positive note, Nokia looks set to introduce a number of new features to both versions. These include Nokia Counter, a usage monitoring app similar to Microsoft’s own DataSmart, Contact Share to easily share contacts, and Flip to Silence.
