A day after it came to light that Samsung had registered the Ativ S and Ativ Tab trademarks, The Verge has learned that Samsung will release a Windows Phone 8 as the Samsung ATIV S. As expected, Samsung will use the ATIV brand name for its Microsoft-powered smartphones and tablets.
Citing “sources familiar with the company’s plans,” the report indicates that the Samsung Ativ S will come with a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a rear-facing 8MP camera, and front-facing 1.9MP one.
The report adds that Samsung could be the first to announce a Windows Phone 8 device. With its IFA 2012 UNPACKED event set for later today, we may not have to wait much longer.
