With the Galaxy Note a success for Samsung with over 7 million sold, a follow-up is almost guaranteed. The first rumours surfaced earlier this month suggesting that this successor would come with a slightly larger display and an October launch. A new report courtesy of MK Business News has now shed more light on the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
Described as a “derivative model of the Galaxy S III,” it will be improved in pretty much every aspect. It will be powered by a quad-core processor and the next version of Android, Jelly Bean. It will be sturdier to better resist falls and have a longer lasting battery. Most interesting is the claim that it will use a new type of screen called an unbreakable plane (UBP) display. UBP, which uses a polymer film rather than glass, is billed “as a precursor to the flexible display” that is thinner than currently used displays.
The two rumours seem to contradict each other as OLED traditionally uses glass. Or will the Samsung Galaxy Note II be the first device to use a polymer film-based OLED display?
