Nokia is working with Microsoft to launch a 10-inch Windows 8 tablet as early as the fourth quarter of 2012. Citing the usual “sources at upstream component suppliers,” Digitimes is reporting that Nokia will use an ARM-based dual-core Qualcomm ARM SoC.
The report adds that production will be outsourced with Compal Electronics the likely manufacturer. The first shipment could reach 200,000 units.
The report follows an earlier interview in which the head of Nokia France, Paul Amsellem, indicated that the Finnish company was working on a Windows 8 tablet. The timeline has slipped since that interview. The new report leaves the door open to the launch slipping further though, possibly into early 2013.
