Rumours that the next Apple iPhone will sport a larger display have resurfaced. Citing “an unnamed industry source,” the Maeil Business Newspaper is reporting that Apple’s next iPhone will sport a 4.6-inch Retina Display. The report adds that it could be launched as early as Q2 2012 (perhaps at WWDC 2012?).
Apple’s latest iPhone model, the iPhone 4S, sports a 3.5-inch display. An increasing number of smartphones (mostly Android devices) now dwarf it with displays often larger than 4-inches. For example, Samsung, an Apple display supplier, already offers the Galaxy S II with a 4.6-inch display (on some models) and the Galaxy Note phablet with its 5.3-inch display.
A recent survey found that smartphone users are gravitating towards larger displays. The trend appears to be driven by the increasing use of smartphones to surf the web, watch videos and play games.
