Last year, HTC revealed that it would slow down its tablet projects after meeting with little success (as many other Android tablet manufacturers did). It may be getting ready to jump back in the game in the near future.
An unnamed HTC spokesperson told PC Advisor that a new tablet is “definitely” on the way but gave no clue as to when this would happen. He added that HTC was looking for “something unique” to make its reentry into the tablet market. Needless to say, he revealed nothing about what this unique feature could be.
Essentially, not much appears to have changed from last year. HTC has not completely exited the tablet space and is likely still doing a bit of R&D. But it does not appear to be rushing either to offer successors to its earlier attempts such as the HTC Jetstream. Could it still be trying to get into the Windows 8 tablet market despite a lack of Microsoft support?
