HTC’s confirmation that it would release Windows Phone 8 devices this year is barely dry that its roadmap has allegedly been revealed. The Verge received details from a “knowledgeable source” that suggest three devices are on the HTC Windows Phone 8 roadmap for this year.
At the low end of the scale is the HTC Rio. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8227 and come with a 4-inch WVGA display, 512MB RAM, 14.4Mbps HSPA, and a 5MP camera with 720p video capture.
The mid-range will be represented by the HTC Accord. It could sport a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8260A chipset although that is not finalized yet. It comes with a 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display, 1GB RAM, 42Mbps HSPA+, an 8MP camera with 1080p video capture, and NFC support.
HTC’s Windows Phone 8 next flagship device is codenamed Zenith. It will come with an unnamed quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 display, 42Mbps HSPA+, and the same 8MP camera as the HTC Accord.
The HTC Rio and HTC Accord are set to ship in October with the HTC Zenith to follow in the fourth quarter.
Things could still change between now and the fall but the end of the year is looking very promising for Windows Phone.
