Google is widely expected to unveil the latest version of Android and its first Nexus tablet at this week’s Google I/O 2012 event. Just days before, Gizmodo Australia has obtained an alleged training document that outlines specifications as well as pricing of the Google Nexus 7.
Specifications line up with those of earlier rumours. The Nexus 7 will be powered by a 1.3Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 processor with GeForce 12-core GPU and Android Jelly Bean. It will come with 1GB RAM, a 7-inch WXGA (1280×800) IPS display, a 1.2MP front-facing camera, NFC, Android Beam, and Google Wallet (possibly only in the U.S.). The battery should be good for about 9 hours of operation.
Two models will be available: An 8GB model will sell for US$199 while a larger 16GB model will sell for US$249.
While the document mentions Jelly Bean it does not give a version number to go with it. Based on a recent slip-up by Google, it should be version 4.1 rather than a full point update to 5 though. More interesting is the indication that Google could handle all device updates with Jelly Bean. It’s likely that this will be limited to the Nexus 7 though. Hopefully this will be clarified at Google I/O.
