Apple’s September 12th event may not see the debut of both the new iPhone and the oft-rumoured iPad mini as previous rumours have suggested. Instead, it now appears that each device will be unveiled at its own special event with the iPhone 5 leading things off on September 12th. Given the interest in both devices, the two events would likely give Apple greater media attention as we head into the crucial holiday shopping season.
Citing “several sources,” AllThingsD reports that Apple will unveil the iPad mini at a second special event that will take place once the iPhone 5 has launched. That suggests that it will take place sometime in October.
A separate report from Japanese site Macotakara adds that Apple will call the smaller iPad the iPad mini. It adds that the iPad mini will sport the iPad logo on the back of the device much as the “iPod” can be found on the iPod devices.
