Research In Motion got some good news today: CollinsDictionary.com today added to its dictionary the term ‘BBM’ as one of eighty-six new words and senses.
The addition of BBM to the Collins English dictionary recognizes its status as one of the world’s most popular mobile social networks. In recent years, the term ‘BBM’ has transcended its technological origins to become a part of the everyday language of millions. It’s an honor that a word used by millions of our customers has now been officially welcomed into the English language.
The Collins Dictionary will now list BBM as an abbreviation (for BlackBerry Messenger: an instant messaging application for BlackBerry devices), a noun (a message sent or received using BlackBerry Messenger), and a verb (to send a message using BlackBerry Messenger).
