Only days ago, the Nokia Lumia 910 surfaced on Nokia’s Remote Device Access program, an online tool that allows developers to remotely test their apps on a number of Nokia devices. It led to speculation that it could end up being Nokia’s first Windows Phone 8 device. It now looks like it may have some competition. TechCrunch found a second unannounced Lumia device, the Nokia Lumia 1001, on the service. The significantly different model number suggests that it might be first in line to be Nokia’s first Windows Phone 8 device.
There are no additional details about the Nokia Lumia 1001 beyond its name. Like the Nokia Lumia 910, it is not directly available for testing. It onlys shows up the device being tested searches for other Bluetooth-enabled devices nearby.
As TechCrunch points out, it may well be that Nokia is having a bit of fun given all the attention that its RDA service is receiving these days. Then again, it was only last year that Nokia unveiled a new number-only mobile phone naming convention based on a ‘the bigger the number, the more you get’ philosophy.
