Nokia had already confirmed that Nokia World would be back in 2012. It today announced that it will change the format of the event (and previously announced dates). Instead of the large-scale events seen in years past, it promises a series of smaller events for specific audiences. It describes the change as “less CES, more SXSW.”
The first of these events will take place in Helsinki on September 5th and 6th rather than the initially announced September 25th and 26th. It will be an invitation-only event for operator and retail partners.
Nokia will hold additional events “in the weeks and months ahead.” It provided no further details about these.
There is no word on what Nokia could unveil at its first Nokia World 2012 event. Could it be some Windows Phone 8 smartphones and Windows 8 tablets?
