One rumour about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III suggested that it might come with a 3D display. In a statement to Engadget, the manufacturer has effectively killed that rumour:
Although Samsung Electronics is constantly exploring new technologies for our mobile devices, we have no immediate plan to include displays featuring 3D technology in our upcoming smartphones.
While Samsung does not rule out future 3D smartphones or even tablets, it does suggest that the feature is not catching on with customers. While a number of 3D phones were offered last year, only one, the LG Optimus 3D Max, has been announced so far in 2012.
