It’s been somewhat quiet on the iPhone rumour front recently but iLounge has obtained some new details. According to their source, Apple will stick with the glass-bodied design rather than the rumoured teardrop design. A larger display is in the works along with a new dock connector.
The new iPhone will be both longer and thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S to accommodate a 4-inch display. It will be about 10 millimeters longer, about as wide, and about 2 millimeters thinner. If so, it is likely that the screen resolution will be different from that of earlier iPhones which all shared the same resolution. The following compares the iPhone 4/4S and the new iPhone:
The new iPhone will use Gorilla Glass 2 and its back casing will incorporate a flat metal panel. It will also sport a new dock connector with fewer pins (perhaps as few as 16) than the 30-pin dock connector. The new connector will be used across all upcoming devices as well.
A fall launch still appears to be in the cards.
