New details have emerged about what Research In Motion’s 2012 roadmap could look like. Much of the new information lines up with that of the previous leak but there are also a few differences.
On the BlackBerry 7 front, RIM looks set to introduce two new Curve smartphones, the BlackBerry Curve 9230 and the BlackBerry Curve 9320. The former will be an EDGE smartphone while the latter will support HSPA. Here the two leaks line up nicely.
On the PlayBook tablet side, details between the two leaks are completely different. Only one tablet is mentioned here. It’s not clear what size it will be but it will apparently come with a 1.5GHz processor, built-in HSPA+ 42Mbps connectivity and NFC. A launch around May or June is suggested.
Finally, on the BlackBerry 10 front, the BlackBerry London is apparently on track for a September launch, supporting the earlier leak. But RIM may not stop at one device after all. A second BB10 device, sporting a touchscreen display and QWERTY keyboard, is also planned for December as part of the Bold series. It also appears that the BlackBerry 10 QWERTY slider is not completely dead but instead has been pushed out to Q1 2013.
Is the future finally starting to look a little brighter for RIM?
