At what it described its first Sony press conference, Sony Mobile today unveiled the Sony Xperia P (codenamed LT22i Nypon) and Xperia U, its first Sony smartphones and part of the NXT series with the now shipping Xperia S.
Sony Xperia P:

- Display: 4-inch qHD (540×960) WhiteMagic

- Storage: 16GB onboard
- Rear-facing camera: 8MP with LED flash and 1080p video capture

Sony’s WhiteMagic displays add a 4th white sub-pixel to the usual red, green, and blue ones. It promises a brighter and more efficient display.
Like the previously announced Xperia S, it will support NFC tags.
Sony Xperia U:

- Operating system: Google Android 2.3 (upgradeable to 4.0)
- Display: 3.5-inch FWGA (854×480) TFT
- Input: Capacitive touchscreen
- Rear-facing camera: 5MP AF with LED flash
- Front-facing camera: None
- Dimensions / weight: 112 x 54 x 12 millimeters / 110 grams
- Other: Exchangeable base caps, 3D surround sound
Sony also announced that the LTE-enabled Sony Xperia ion will launch in markets outside of the US in the summer.
