MTS last year announced plans to launch its LTE network sometime in 2012. It looked for a short time earlier today that it had launched in both Winnipeg and Brandon but the web page announcing the launch has been pulled down in favour of one that again states that the launch will take place in 2012.
MTS told at least one person who reached out to their corporate office for a clarification that the network was still in beta testing and that it was “set to go live sometime around November.”
Despite its LTE network not being available yet, MTS is now offering two LTE devices, the Sony Xperia ion and the Huawei E397 USB Wireless LTE Internet Express Stick. Both will fall back to HSPA+ until the LTE network goes live.
