With Samsung having sold over 7 million Galaxy Notes so far, it’s clear that there is a market for smartphones with 5+-inch displays. Samsung is already planning to follow up the Galaxy Note with the slightly larger 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 2. But it will not be alone as others are now eyeing this market as well. According to Digitimes, both LG and Pantech are expected to offer their own “phablets” in the second half of the year.
LG is planning to launch its own 5-inch LTE smartphone, the LG-F180. It will come with a quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, and a 13MP camera.
Pantech will also release a 5-inch LTE smartphone but there are no details about it yet. Digitimes expects an announcement “soon.”
