Many Canadians (including us here at Gadgetorama) were left frustrated not only by how quickly the Google Nexus 4 sold out earlier this month but also how unstable the whole shopping experience proved to be. With the “Sold out” signs up now since then, many are wondering when Google will again have stock and let them place an order. For its part, Google has only indicated that stock would be available “in the coming weeks”. That does not give us much to go on.
According to a Google Product Forum post today, we may now have a better idea of when to get ready to give our F5 keys another workout. According to forum user Machzy, Google could have more Nexus 4s available for Canada “in 2 weeks.” That suggests sales could resume December 10th or thereabouts. The ETA comes from Will at Google Customer Support.
It’s not a whole lot to go on and support desks are not exactly known for their ETA accuracy so take this with a pinch of salt for now. We will continue digging into this to see if we can get some kind of confirmation and more information (such as whether there will be stock for more than 30 minutes of sales).
Update: Another Google Customer Support rep and another date: According to Chris, Canada is set to receive its next Nexus 4 shipment “by the 7th of December.” The shipment is large enough that it should cover both backorders as well as new orders. With no numbers though, it remains to be seen how long the Nexus 4 will remain on sale this time.
