After announcing plans to upgrade its network to 4G HSPA+ later this year, Mobilicity today announced plans to extend its network into a number of new Canadian cities.
“We’ve spent the last year on network densification to provide a great network experience amidst tremendous growth in our existing service area,” said Mobilicity President and Chief Operating Officer Stewart Lyons. “Now it’s time to expand outward and bring Mobilicity’s smart, affordable wireless service to more Canadians than ever.”
West of Toronto, it plans to cover Milton, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton. Coverage east of Toronto will extend to Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa. Ottawa will see expansion of its network into Barrhaven, Orléans and Cumberland.
Further west, it will extend its network within the Greater Vancouver Area to include White Rock, Pitt Meadows and the Richmond-Surrey commuter corridors. Edmonton’s coverage will expand to include the areas around St. Albert to the north and southward to the airport.
Specific timelines for these network extensions were not provided but all should soon be reflected on its coverage map.
Mobilicity today operates in Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver.
