LG today announced that it has now sold over 3 million LTE devices across the world. It did not provide a breakdown by country but indicated that North America, Korea and Japan were responsible for the bulk of sales.
“Reaching the three million milestone this early in LTE’s global roll-out is a strong sign that customers are on board with our LTE strategy,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. “Improving the user experience is at the core of LG’s vision and we’ll continue to take leadership in the LTE market by offering features that offer clear customer benefits.”
It launched its first LTE smartphone, the LG Revolution, in May 2011. Earlier this year, it announced the LG Optimus LTE II, the world’s first LTE smartphone with 2GB RAM. In Canada, both Bell and TELUS offer the LG Optimus LTE. Launched in October 2011, it exceeded sales of one million units within the first three months of availability.
By the end of the year, LG will offer LTE devices in some 20 markets.
