LG today announced that its Optimus LTE smartphone has exceeded the one million unit sold mark, “putting it at the forefront of the emerging LTE era.”
“With brisk sales for a high-end smartphone, the Optimus LTE reaffirms LG’s leadership in mobile LTE technology,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. “The combination of LTE connectivity with
LG’s True HD IPS display has resonated with the public regarding the potential of LTE technology.”
The LG Optimus LTE is available in Canada (through Bell Mobility), the U.S., Japan and South Korea. It sold 600,000 units in South Korea alone.
As impressive as the milestone is, LG still faces stiff competition from the likes of Apple (which sold over 37 million iPhones in its last quarter alone) and Samsung with its Galaxy S lineup (over 30 million sold).
