We may now have an official name for the leaked LG CX2. Citing a “reliable source,” GSM-Israel reports that the successor to the LG Optimus 3D could be released as the LG 3D Max.
The name seems fitting considering that the leaked specifications point to a somewhat upgraded device rather than a complete redesign. Slightly thinner, it will benefit from a faster 1.2GHz dual-core processor, the use of a NOVA display, and the addition of an NFC ship.
Oddly, the Optimus brand that LG has used for all its Android smartphones to date is missing here. Whether this is an an omission or the start of a new LG branding strategy remains to be seen.
The LG CX2 / 3D Max is expected to be announced at next month’s Mobile World Congress.
