With 2012 wrapping up, attention is turning to what smartphone manufacturers will offer in 2013. The flagship smartphone space looks set to be dominated by devices sporting 5-inch 1080p HD displays. HTC got an early start with the DROID DNA and HTC J Butterfly and appears to be building on those with a new device codenamed “M7.”
There is little to go on for the M7’s specifications but HTCSource suggests it will come with a Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core processor, a 5-inch HD display (likely the same 1080p HD Super LCD3 display as on the DROID DNA), a 13MP camera, and a uni-body aluminum shell. If so, it may be none other than the HTC Deluxe, a device that has been the topic of recent rumours.
According to Focus Taiwan, the HTC M7 could launch as early as March 2013. In preparation, HTC is already working with suppliers to secure enough components for production of between 4 and 5 million HTC M7s in Q1 2013.
