Past rumours suggested that HTC’s upcoming Windows Phone 8 lineup would be made up of three devices. The HTC Zenith flagship would have the mid-range HTC Accord and entry-level HTC Rio at its sides. The HTC Accord has been the subject of a number of rumours, including ones that indicated that the device would be known as the HTC 8X or HTC Windows Phone 8X. This may not be quite correct according to TechOrz.
The report suggests that HTC’s Windows Phone 8 devices will make up the HTC 8 product family. Model naming will follow the convention established with the HTC One lineup: The HTC Zenith will be known as the HTC 8X, the Accord will be the HTC 8S, and the Rio will be the HTC 8V.
Specifications line up relatively well with those of earlier reports:
- The HTC 8X will come with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor (rather than a quad-core one), a 4.7-inch HD Super LCD display, an 8MP rear camera, NFC and 42Mbps HSPA+ connectivity.
- The HTC 8S will sport a dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 SoC, a smaller 4.3-inch HD Super LCD display, 8MP rear camera, and 42Mbps HSPA+ connectivity.
- The Rio will sport a dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8227 SoC, a 4-inch WVGA display, 512MB RAM, a 5MP rear camera, and 14.4Mbps HSPA connectivity.
HTC is expected to announce its Windows Phone 8 devices (and perhaps some Android ones) at a press event on September 19th.
