Rumours earlier this week revealed the HTC Proto, a relatively small update to the HTC One V. HTC now appears to be readying a similar update for the HTC One X. The new device has been identified as the HTC Endeavour C2 by Stuff‘s Taiwanese sources. It just so happens that the original HTC One X was codenamed Endeavour during development, leading to the conclusion that the C2 will be a direct successor.
The report adds that the HTC Endeavour C2 will come with a 1.7GHz quad-core processor (a Tegra 3+ perhaps?), an improved battery, and bundled UrBeats earphones. All accessories for the HTC One X will work with the new model, an indication that it will not change much outwardly. A new colour option is also in the cards. On the software side, it will come with ClearVoice for improved call quality and HTC Watch 2, the newest version of HTC’s video-on-demand service.
The HTC Endeavour C2 appears set for an early October launch in the UK. It would sell for about £5 more a month than the HTC One X.
Could the HTC Endeavour C2 be the already rumoured HTC One X+ or HTC One XXL? The specifications suggest that this is a possibility. Unlike the original HTC One X, this one would not be the latest flagship device as that honour appears to be going to a new smartphone with a a 5-inch 1080p display (the HTC dlx?).
With replacements seemingly in place for the HTC One V and the HTC One X, the question is now whether HTC will also update the HTC One S?
