The rumoured Google Nexus tablet appears to have been caught on Rightware’s BaseMark benchmark test results website. Identified as the Google Asus Nexus 7, it slots in at 11th, promising a decently powerful tablet. Along with the name and a few specifications, Android Police have obtained a few additional details. The details line up quite well with the latest rumours.
Specifications include a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, an HD (1280×768) display (7-inches based on past rumours and the tablet name here), and Android 4.1. The build number is JRN51B with the J identifying Jelly Bean. If accurate, Jelly Bean will not carry version 5.0 as widely expected but 4.1 instead.
The codename of the device, Grouper, gives further credence that this is an Android device. A number of past Android devices have been named after fish, For example, the G1 was codenamed Trout, the XOOM was known as both Wingray and Stingray (for its variants) and the Nexus One was Mahi-Mahi.
Google is widely expected to unveil its Nexus tablet next month at Google I/O. Attendees may also be given one at the event.
