Samsung today announced that its Galaxy S III flagship smartphone will launch on five U.S. carriers this month. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular will all start carrying it this month but precise availability and pricing details were not provided today.
“The U.S. launch of the Galaxy S III is the most anticipated launch of the year. As promised, we are delivering the ‘next big thing’ for U.S. customers and across all major carriers,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Telecommunications America. “Galaxy S III introduces new technological innovation and takes sharing to the next level.”
As in Canada, the model offered in the U.S. will use a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor rather than the quad-core Exynos one found in the international version. It will come with 2GB of RAM and support either 4G LTE or HSPA+ 42 networks (depending on the carrier).
To go with the launch, Samsung is promising its biggest marketing campaign ever. “Consumers won’t be able to miss why this device is the must-have smartphone,” promised Todd Pendleton, Chief Marketing Officer for Samsung Telecommunications America.
The Samsung Galaxy S III is launching on June 20th in Canada, giving us one possible launch date south of the border.
