About a month after unveiling it, Facebook yesterday launched its App Center, its own version of an app store. Some 600 apps are already available, all of which use Facebook in some fashion. It is available through the Facebook iOS and Android apps as well as Facebook.com. Among available apps are Draw Something, Pinterest, Ghosts of Mistwood, and Ghost Recon Commander.
Each app will have its details page providing users with information such as screenshots, permissions required by the app, and more. Users will also be able to see what apps their friends are using.
Facebook promises to offer only “high-quality apps.” It’s not clear if this will be based solely on feedback from people who use these apps or if it will also have its internal criteria.
The Facebook App Center is now rolling out in the U.S. only for now. It is expected to be available to everyone “in the coming weeks.”
