Shortly after acquiring Ericsson’s share in their joint venture, Sony announced that future devices would be branded as Sony devices. At CES, the company also announced plans to rebrand its mobile division to Sony Mobile Communications.
Future devices, including the just announced Xperia ion and Xperia S, will be launched under the Sony brand.
Interestingly, Sony Ericsson’s green sphere logo (pictured here) may stay. It appears on the backs of both the Xperia S and Xperia ion. Will it still be there when both hit the street?
The rebranding is expected to be completed by the middle of the year, assuming that Sony’s acquisition clears all the necessary regulatory approvals between now and then.
