Samsung Canada today announced that the launch of its much anticipated Galaxy S III smartphone has been delayed by a week. Originally set to launch on June 20th, it will now launch on June 27th.
Due to unprecedented demand, our launch of GALAXY S III will happen June 27th, rather than June 20th. Thanks for your understanding.
Last month, Samsung revealed that it had booked 9 million Samsung Galaxy S III pre-orders. That number likely now stands in the tens of millions. With manufacturing running at full capacity and able to produce 5 million units per month, Samsung should be able to fill orders fairly quickly, assuming it can continue to get its hand on sufficient Snapdragon S4 processors found in the Canadian models.
A number of carriers are still taking pre-orders but others such as Mobilicity and some retailers have stopped in the face of high demand.
It remains to be seen if a similar delay will occur in the U.S.
