On the heels of a CA$650 million investment in Ontario, TELUS today announced a CA$840 million investment in Quebec.
“TELUS is an employer of choice and leader in the telecommunications sector in Québec. We are committed to contribute to the prosperity and well-being of the province and all its regions as we believe leading edge technologies and robust infrastructure can be the foundation of a stronger economy. That’s why we will continue to invest in cutting-edge technology and infrastructure for consumer, business and healthcare markets,” said François Côté, President of TELUS Québec and TELUS Health Solutions.
Like the Ontario announcement, a portion of the investment will be used to expand the TELUS 4G LTE network. Expansion will focus on the Montreal Metropolitan and Quebec City regions as well as other communities across the province. Rural coverage is again tied to “the success and timing of TELUS acquiring wireless spectrum through Industry Canada’s upcoming spectrum auction.”
Other investment areas include the addition of 75 new wireless sites across the province, a new LEED Gold-compliant Internet Data Centre, and additional enhancements to its wireless and wireline networks for Quebec’s business market.
