When Research In Motion first unveiled BlackBerry 10, known at first as BlackBerry BBX, it announced that it would run both smartphones and tablets. With all the attention being focused on the first BB10 smartphone, it’s good to hear that RIM has not forgotten this. Rob Orr, RIM’s VP of product management reconfirmed this today in a statement to TechRadar:
“We’ve said publicly a number of times that our first BB10 handset will be available towards the end of 2012, and that’s still firmly the case. At some point after the launch we’ll bring BB10 to our PlayBooks, yes.”
Orr also revealed that about half of all BlackBerry PlayBook owners updated their tablets to the new BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0 operating system on the first day that it was available.
