ASUS will unveil its Padfone 2 at two launch events on October 16th. The successor to its innovative ASUS Padfone, effectively three devices in one, will be unveiled at events in Milan, Italy, and Taipei, Taiwan. Whereas most event invitations provide few clues to what will be revealed, the ASUS invitation specifically mentions that Padfone 2 although it gives no further details.
The original Padfone smartphone could be docked into a PadFone Station, effectively transforming it into a 10.1-inch tablet. An additional keyboard accessory turned it into a laptop. The Padfone 2 is expected to be very similar but with a number of upgrades. Among those could be a quad-core Snapdragon S4, Google Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and LTE connectivity.
With no event in North America, it remains to be seen if we will see the Padfone 2 here.
