As expected, ASUS is now offering a free GPS extension kit to improve GPS capabilities of its Transformer Prime tablet. The move is in response to complaints about GPS connectivity that surfaced quickly after its release. A number of firmware updates followed but the tablet’s aluminium design is believed to limit the functionality.
Although the Transformer Prime is not a professional GPS device, as part of our unwavering commitment to customers we are offering all Transformer Prime owners a free external GPS extension kit, called a dongle, which may help improve signal reception and optimize the user experience. We are pleased to announce this offer as part of our commitment to customer service
Described as a dongle, the accessory is actually a long bar that plugs into the docking port. As a result, the keyboard dock cannot be attached at the same time. Users will need to choose: GPS or keyboard.
Orders for the free kit must be placed by July 31st. Qualification is based on the Prime’s serial number.
