ASUS has apparently shot down suggestions that it would release a 3G-enabled version of its Transformer Prime tablet. The company responded to rumours of an upcoming 3G-enabled Transformer Prime with a redesigned case with a statement that said that “no such product exists on its current roadmap.”
The next Transformer Prime model, the TF700T which sports a higher-resolution display, improved front-facing camera, redesigned back panel and still Wi-Fi-only, will launch in Q2 2012. It is expected to co-exist with the current Transformer Prime.
But ASUS did not rule out future 3G-enabled tablets. It expects that some models of future “high-end products in the Transformer family” will sport 3G connectivity.
