A Digitimes report suggests that Apple will unveil an 8GB model of its iPad 2 along with the expected new iPad 3 at next week’s event. The cheaper iPad would allow Apple to better compete against cheaper tablets (such as the Kindle Fire) and upcoming Windows 8 tablets.
The report also suggests that Apple will annouce 16GB and 32GB models of its new iPad 3. The new iPads could also come with multi-core processors, LTE connectivity, and a Retina Display (2,048×1,536 pixels) offering twice the resolution of the iPad 2.
The report suggests that Apple will keep its iPad 2 lineup alongside its iPad 3 line, possibly at reduced prices or by introducing the iPad 3 at a higher price point.
