Did you miss your almost daily dose of iPhone 5 rumours? If yes, you’re in luck as they’re back in full force today. A number of new alleged details have suddenly popped up from a number of different sources.
First up is Topeka Capital Markets’ Brian White who has just returned from China and Taiwan. According to information that he collected from supplier meetings, Apple’s next iPhone will sport a new unibody design, a larger 4-inch display, and 4G LTE connectivity. He expects an August-September time frame launch and predicts that it will be “extraordinary, dwarfing previous launches.”
Kotaku reports that the launch will take place slightly later, in the October timeframe. Its information comes from South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper which cites a Foxconn executive as saying, “We just got the order. It [the release] will be around October.”
Whatever the launch date,9to5Mac is reporting that the new iPhone is reportedly already undergoing trials. Current tests are focused on the new components and the prototypes are using older iPhone casings to prevent the new design from leaking. They are sporting a modified A5X chipset and 1GB of RAM.
If that’s not enough, Apple could also launch an updated iPod touch. It could be bumped up to an A5 or A5X chipset.
