Aside from the Google Nexus 7 which has Android 4.1 Jelly Bean preinstalled, only a handful of devices are so far confirmed to be receiving an upgrade to the latest version of Android (although that is likely to increase over the next few months). So far, the upgrade has begun for the Galaxy Nexus but it may be joined by the Google Nexus S sooner than many had expected.
In a blog post covering upcoming software updates, Vodafone Australia lists teh following for the Google Nexus S:
Approved by Vodafone, roll out by Google scheduled for 1:00pm AEST, 19th July 2012. Keep an eye on our blog for further information.
A quick time conversion indicates that 13:00 AEST is 23:00 ET.
Note that this does not mean that all Nexus S devices will suddenly see the update tomorrow. Most likely the update will be staggered possibly over a few weeks. But it is coming and coming soon…
The only other devices so far to have confirmed Android 4.1 are the ASUS Transformer Pad TF201, TF300, and TF700 tablets. HTC and other manufacturers are also evaluating their upgrade plans.
