Kindle Fire rumours so far have suggested that Amazon is likely to follow up its 7-inch model with either a 8.9-inch or a 10.1-inch model. A Taiwan Economic News report now indicates that Amazon may launch three new models by the end of the year. Rather than three different sizes though, Amazon will launch two 7-inch models as well as a larger 8.9-inch model.
According to the report, a lower-end 7-inch model will come with a WSVGA (1024×600) display (the same resolution as the current Kindle Fire) while a higher-end one will have a WXGA (1280×800) display (and presumably other upgraded specifications). The 8.9-inch model, the top-of-the-line model, will feature a WUXGA (1920×1200) display.
Whereas the current Kindle Fire production is handled solely by Quanta, the new larger Kindle family will see Hon Hai be responsible for the lower-end 7-inch model.
This latest rumour contradicts another recent one suggesting that Amazon had decided to go with a larger 10.1-inch model along with a new 7-inch one.
The report provided no additional details as to when Amazon would announce these new Kindle Fire models.
